A Tale of an Architect and a Software Engineer Determined to Change the Furniture Industry

The story of Harvada Home began in 2021 when Alexander, an Interior Designer based in Brantford, Canada, noticed a significant gap in the market. While working on various projects, he realized there were few stores offering mid-century-inspired furniture or unique accent pieces at a medium-budget price point. Together with his university classmate and a group of like-minded friends, he envisioned a solution to fill this void.

But their vision extended beyond creating an online store—it was about making an impact. They decided to purchase land in the Eastern European mountains, pledging to plant a tree for every piece of furniture sold. After months of careful planning, the store launched in early 2022. Tragically, within its first week of operation, the war in Ukraine broke out, disrupting their primary supply chain and halting the project indefinitely.

In May 2024, Alexander’s career took a new direction. Having secured several architectural contracts in various countries, he left his corporate role to focus entirely on his own practice. One of these projects brought him to Thailand, where he discovered untapped opportunities in furniture manufacturing. Inspired by these possibilities, Alexander decided to breathe new life into the long-dormant dream of Harvada Home.

Around this time, Alexander’s relative Valerius approached him for help designing his newly purchased apartment in Spain. During this collaboration, they recognized their complementary skills: Alexander’s expertise in design and Asian manufacturing, paired with Val’s business knowledge and programming talent. Together, they reimagined Harvada Home, creating a furniture store that delivers unique, high-quality pieces at a mid-range price point.

Today, Harvada Home stands as a testament to resilience, creativity, and collaboration. We offer more than just furniture—we offer timeless designs, exceptional craftsmanship, and a mission to make beautiful homes accessible to all.
